Report: Microsoft revealing Xbox 'Woodstock' music service at E3

We are stardust. We are golden. And we've got to get ourselves back to the Xbox. According to some anonymous-type sources over at The Verge, Microsoft is set to continue its shift away from Zuneland into the world of Woodstock -- that's reportedly the codename of a new Spotify-like service set to make its debut at this year's E3. According to the reports, the tiny yellow bird of a service will work across platforms (think Windows 8, iOS, Android and, of course, the Xbox, amongst others), thanks, at least in part, in part to browser-based functionality. The service is said to be set to launch later in the year, around the same as some key MS operating systems.

If You Want To Make Money Investing, Mull Over Buying Penny Stocks

Almost everybody has heard about the stock market?s struggles in the past several years and now the recovery that has taken place. ?But if you are not a professional trader or you do not have your money invested with a money manger, it could be difficult to know how to invest. ?The great thing is that you could do an abundance of research online and learn all about investing. ?Most investing literature could tell you to take greater risks when you are young and to diversify your portfolio in order to cut back your overall risk. ?

Whereas it is very smart to obey most of the time honored investing principles that you could learn about, there are other types of investments that you could want to consider. ?While learning to invest, you could begin with investing in penny stocks and go from there. ?Penny stocks could be fun to buy because they can bring big returns (but also can lose a tremendous deal as well). ?They likely carry greater risk than typical investments, but the rewards can also be much higher.

You may not know what penny stocks are, but they are frequently characterized as stocks that trade under $1 and are not listed on the major stock exchanges. ?Due to the fact that they are not listed on the bigger exchanges, they are also not regulated the same and this is why they are regarded to be much riskier investments. ?

Even though there is risk, you could invest a modest amount of money in these stocks merely to get your feet wet in investing. ?Penny stocks to watch could be found by merely doing a google search and looking through the many sites out there. ?Good luck with your investing if you do decide to?choose some penny stocks to buy.

WPI Sports and Recreation Center Opening In May. ? Cannon ...

WPI Sports and Recreation Center Opening In May.

Early last week, I received an official invitation from Worcester Polytechnic Institute to attend a celebration marking the opening of its new Sports and Recreation Center. Cannon Design directed the design of the project and I take great pride in the building and the efforts our team put forth. It will be exciting to attend the opening celebration and see how it transforms the campus.

The invitation to the event conveys WPI?s excitement for the Sports and Recreation Center. It talks about the building?s potential to improve the campus experience and create new opportunities for students and faculty at the university. It creates a stronger and brighter future for the university.

A LEED certified building, the new five-story recreation facility offers a four-court gymnasium, a three-lane perimeter jogging track, a 25-meter, 250-spectator competition swimming pool, three convertible racquetball and squash courts, an eight-person rowing tank and dramatic views of the campus.

The project is part of a larger seven-year fundraising and improvement plan for the university, I?m excited to see this building become a reality and know that Cannon Design has played a part in helping WPI meet its goals.

Dropbox for Android updates, folder linking now available

Android Central

The Dropbox app for Android (and the related web service and desktop apps) has been updated today with "performance improvements and bug fixes", along with the option to share links to specific files or folders. The idea is to make it easier to make stuff you've uploaded directly accessible by providing a button next to them on the web site and mobile app. If you recognize these new features, it's because they've been in beta testing for a while, but from today they're accessible to all Dropbox users.

The timing of the update is interesting, with Google rumored to be unveiling its competing "Google Drive" service sometime this week. If it's to succeed in taking users away from Dropbox, Google will have to offer a compelling sharing solution of its own, particularly in light of today's new additions.

We've got the usual Google Play Store linkage waiting for you after the break, along with today's press release.

InMobi: Android & iOS Eat Away At RIM?s Share In North America; Globally, Nokia Devices Dominate

mobile-devicesIndependent mobile ad network?InMobi?released its Q1 2012 Ad Data report for North America this morning, covering the mobile ad landscape for the first part of the year. Not surprisingly, the report found the top two mobile operating systems were, again, iOS and Android, each with a sizeable chunk of market share and growing. RIM, meanwhile, was still clinging to spot #3, but has dropped 4.6% since Q1 2011, the report found, going from a 11.9% share to 7.3%. this past quarter.

Flush With Funding, Video Chat Service Tango Has Social Network Ambitions

Tango logoVideo chat service Tango is moving in a new direction, and this week, the company closed a round of $40 million in Series C funding which will help it get there. Today, many think of Tango's service as an up-and-coming Skype competitor, as it, too, is about real-time communication, specifically video calling, between users. But the comparison to Skype may no longer be apt. Tango is working towards becoming a more social service - something more akin to the micro social network Path, in fact. On the roadmap are several new social features, some of which make sense for a phone replacement utility (like text messaging), others which seem more like a shift to a social network (like exchanging photos).
